World Cup bronze medallist Jack Laugher who trains with the City of Leeds Diving Club grabbed the gold medal in the 3 meter Springboard in one of the most exciting finals of the FINA/ NVC Diving World Series in Windsor, Canada on the weekend.
Jack had a steady start to the final and went into the lead after his second dive and as he lined up for his Inward 3 ½ Somersaults tucked he looked confident.
China’s He Chao moved into the lead in the fourth round after scoring almost 100 points for Back 3 ½ Somersaults tucked.

Chris Mears and Jack Laugher from City of Leeds Diving rose to the occasion at the third leg of the FINA NVC Diving World Series in London over the weekend. The pair took advantage of the home crowd support, showing impressive form to take silver in the men’s 3m Synchro final to win their debut medal of the 2015 series with 433.80 – a FINA NVC Diving World Series best performance. They built their dives through each round to conclude with their most difficult dive – the forward 4 ½ Somersault Pike.
Jack said “Our World series started off with two fourth places which was really tough, we knew things had to change and we’ve managed to rectify those mistakes today. We’ve improved our routine we are more focused coming into this event in front of the home crowd.”

Teams from the North East claimed victory at the ASA Age Group Waterpolo Championships in Manchester at the weekend.
In the U17 boys final, Sedgefield beat 2013 champions Manchester. The game was hanging in the balance from the first whistle to the last but Sedgefield – who won the U15 Championships last season – hung on to claim an 8-7 win to lift the title for the third time in their history and the first time since 2006. On Saturday 25th April, the Durham Performance Swimming hub ran a fantastic session hosted by John Moore and Sedgefield Swimming Club at Newton Aycliffe Pool.
