Over sixty coaches from across the Swim England North East Region have now completed training in delivering dry land strength and conditioning for athletes in their clubs.
Workshops have recently been delivered in Doncaster and Sunderland for coaches from a variety of clubs in the respective areas. The coach education is delivered in partnership with the Swim England Talent programme to support the training and development of coaches working in club environment. The workshop covers the fundamentals of body weight Strength and Conditioning including correct technique, basic movements and how to apply this in a training programme.
One coach commented that the workshop was extremely useful in providing them with the knowledge and confidence to introduce dry land training into pre pool, post pool and separate training sessions. This would helps to introduce and support some great fundamental principles which athletes can use to better develop themselves within their discipline.
Additional coach development opportunities will be planned and delivered in the months ahead.
