On Saturday 29th November, the first Durham Junior hub session ran at the Louisa Centre in Stanley. In total, 31 swimmers from Wear Valley, Durham, Derwentside, Chester-Le-Street and Peterlee swimming club attended a great pool session which focused on efficiency in the water. This was followed by a Strength and Conditioning session lead by coach former GB basketball player Nathan Norris where he spent time talking to the swimmers about the importance of flexibility and strength and highlighting exercises swimmers should be doing to minimise injuries and strengthen Important areas.
Paul Woodley, lead coach for the Durham hub said “The session this morning shows that we have some great young talent in County Durham who are willing to learn and improve. It’s great to see them all training together making it a fantastic and exciting session. I would like to thank Ben Hatchet (Durham), Tom Wakelam and Chris Phillpot (Peterlee) who helped coach the session. They were a pleasure to work with and their enthusiasm certainly rubbed off onto the swimmers!”.
