Last week, Newcastle Swim Team’s Emily Large travelled to Copenhagen to compete in the 2017 European Short Course Championships.
The British squad at the Championships was made up of just nine with a mix of senior, experienced athletes and some younger developing swimmers looking to establish themselves in the senior ranks. The meet was used as an opportunity for the swimmers to race and to refine some competition skills.
Emily competed in the first day of racing in the Women’s 400m IM where she qualified for the final and had a strong swim to finish eighth overall after facing a tough line-up that included the Rio 2016 Olympic Champion Katinka Hosszu.
On the second day of the Championhips, she swam in the Women’s 50m Butterfly and finished, 37th and on the third day she swam in the Women’s 200m Butterfly and placed 11th in the rankings after the morning heats session.
Many congratulations Emily on some greats swims at the Championships. To view the full results from the Championships, please click here.
