In partnership with the Swim England Talent Team, a North East Region Coaches Conference has been scheduled for Sunday 17th March 2019.
This is an excellent opportunity for coaches to develop their technical and non- technical skills relating to age group swimming. The conference is primarily aimed at Level 1 and Level 2 Swimming Coaches and forms part of the Swim England Talent County and Regional Development Programme. Level 3 coaches and above are also welcome to attend if they wish. Attendance will allow coaches to develop a greater awareness of the important role that they need to play in the development of aspiring young swimmers. Delegates will have the opportunity to check and challenge their understanding with both the speakers and their peers throughout the day. Sessions will be delivered by staff form Swim England Talent and UK Coaching.
The conference will include the following subject areas:
Optimal Athlete Development Framework – An awareness of the British Swimming framework which looks to develop materials and coaching activity across the pathway.
Talent Across the Ages – Exploring the biological, psychological and social characteristics of athletes’ development. A workshop for high-performing coaches with an interest in talent development, working, or having a desire to work, with emerging athletes within the England Talent Pathway
Growth and Development of Age Group Swimmers with Motor Learning Skills – Motor Learning and skill acquisition. Chronological or biological approach? No 1 Stoke focus or not?
Planning Considerations for Targeting the Benchmark Meet – What and how?
Club Awards Scheme – How to effectively implement the awards into a Club Programme
The conference will be held at The Bridge Hotel, Wetherby from 9:30am to 4:00pm.
The cost to attend the conference is £20 per delegate and includes refreshments and a light lunch. Places should be booked on the events calendar in the Swim England North East website or by using the following link: click here.
