The County Durham Swimming Hub has come to a close for another season with the last two sessions being held at the Louisa Centre last Saturday and Monday. Paul Woodley, Chairman of the Durham Club Network and programme lead for the Durham Hub said ‘I would like to say a big thank you to Ben and Tom for Durham City ASC for attending both sessions to help out on poolside and delivering sessions and workshops for the Junior Swimmers. I would like to thank Chris Dove (Derwentside) who has attended every hub session and been a great support to the swimmers’.
When speaking about the development of the hub programme over the last year he said ‘I would like to thank everyone for their support and hard work to help move the Durham Hub forward, engaging more clubs and people and building the Hubs reputation. I would like to especially thank Sarah Small, Isac Mitchell and Fred Kirby who have been a great support all season. We have had a fantastic year with more swimmers and clubs engaging, Durham ASC, Peterlee ASC and Sedgefield ASC hosting a session each and a Durham Club Network founded with clubs signed up to a MOU and Constitution. We have an action plan all set up for next season with some exciting support opportunities for our swimmers and coaches’.
He also added ‘while all of this is exciting, we need clubs and coaches in particular to actively promote the Durham Hub and encourage swimmers to attend to ensure we have as many swimmers as possible accessing the support available and training together to achieve more’.
Information will be made available on the website about the Durham Hub sessions for next season and if your club is interested in hosting a session, please contact Paul on P.Woodley@leisureworks.net.
