Olympic champions Jack Laugher and Chris Mears kicked off the opening day of the 2017 FINA Diving World Series in Beijing with 3m Synchro silver.
The English pair scored 427.98 to finish behind China’s Cao Yuan and Xie Siyi on 450.39.
Jack Laugher continued his impressive start to the season with individual gold in the 3m Springboard.
After winning his semi-final with 497.90, Olympic silver medallist Laugher improved to 554.00 to take victory in the final.
The score would have won gold at Rio 2016 last summer and he had a pair of world class Chinese divers behind him in the final.
World 1m Springboard champion Xie Siyi took silver on 539.15 while Cao Yuan, who beat Laugher to the 3m title in Rio, was third on 510.05.
In the women’s events, City of Leeds Divers Lois Toulson and Katherine Torrance paired with Tonia Coach and Grace Reid respectively to finish fifth in the 10m and 3m Synchro events.
