Welcome to Masters Swimming in the North East!

Masters swimming is essentially swimming for adults over 18 years and encompasses the whole range of ability from casual fitness swimming for those who want a workout to highly-organised competitive swimming.

To qualify as a Masters swimmer you only need to be over 18 years old. Apart from that, the sport welcomes everyone, no matter what their reason for swimming.

How far you go with Masters swimming is up to you. The broad objectives are better health, better fitness, and friendship between swimmers.

Competitions are held regionally, nationally and internationally for those who also like to race and meet Masters swimmers from other clubs but there is no compulsion to compete. If you do want to compete you’ll need to be an ASA member.

With more than 400 clubs across the country that either have Masters sections or are dedicated to Masters swimming, it couldn’t be easier to get involved and join the thriving British Masters community
