Swimmers attend Third Northumberland and Durham Swimming Camp

On Saturday, selected 11 year old swimmers from across the county attended the third and final Northumberland and Durham swimming training camp of 2017.

The camp was held at Consett Leisure Centre and during the day, athletes participated in two pool sessions, a land based session and a nutrition workshop.

The three camps held throughout the 2017 have been a great opportunity for the swimmers to develop their skills and knowledge in and out of the pool and many thanks go to the coaches (Chris Leighton – BOSSS, Emma Hughes – City of Sunderland, Ben Hatchett – City of Durham, Steven Dickinson – Ashington Swimming Club, Alison Middleton – Aquaforce, Paul Armstrong – Gateshead and Whickham and Jo Richards – Middlesbrough) for their support with the programme. Many thanks also go to City of Sunderland’s Chris Ferriter for running excellent land sessions at the camps and for Chester-Le-Street’s Lorraine Lawrence for being the Team Manager.

Selections for next years camps will be made after the Northumberland and Durham Championships in February 2018.
