SUMMARY:North East Regional Swimming Championships (Short Course)
DESCRIPTION:I am conscious that we have not yet published full details for the Swim England North East Regional Swimming Championships (25m) which are due to take place on the 6th & 7th November 2021 at Ponds Forge\, Sheffield. This concerns both the Open & Age Group Championships which are normally swum in adjacent 25m pools. As most will be aware Ponds Forge imposed a capacity limit\, when it reopened after the last lockdown\, of 440 within the Pool Hall. Hence there were no Spectators permitted at the recent Festival of Swimming Event. \nThat capacity limit is still in force. Air quality tests are to be carried out at the two Level 3 Meets over the weekend of 18th/19th September to determine if the capacity limit can be safely increased. Until the results of these tests are known we are unable to publish final details of the Short Course Championships.\nOnce Schedules/Qualifying times are published entries will not close until the 27th October 2021. We will be accepting times from meets Licensed at Levels 1 to 4.\nI realise that this is not an ideal situation. We are hopeful that both meets can take place. \nYou can be assured that we will publish further details once we have a decision from Ponds Forge. I would recommend that any bookings made for accommodation at Sheffield are on a refundable basis. It is intended that all Swim England Regions will promote meets in support of this initiative and we will\, therefore\, be promoting two meets to be delivered in conjunction with our Counties as follows: \nSaturday 31st July/Sunday 1st August – Ponds Forge\, Sheffield – for swimmers who are members of clubs affiliated to Yorkshire. \nEvents will be 50m Freestyle\, 100m & 200m all strokes\, 400m Freestyle\, 200m & 400m Ind. Medley. Age groups are 12 & under\, 13\, 14\, 15\, 16\, 17\, 18 & over. \nFull details will be published in due course. \nTHE CURRENT GOVERNMENT COVID-19 GUIDANCE MUST BE COMPLIED WITH AT TIMES.
