SUMMARY:Open Water - Taster Event 2022
DESCRIPTION:The NE Region is hosting a taster event for our swimmers ahead of the 2022 NW/NE Regional Open Water  Championships. This swim will allow swimmers to experience an outdoor event with safety briefings and Q&A opportunities ahead of the regionals \nThe event will be held at Manvers Lake in Rotherham on Saturday 25th June at 1pm. \nEntries are invited from NE Regional club members aged 12-18yrs for a 1500m swim… the water temperature will be around 17-18 degrees\, so wetsuits advised but not essential\, and the entry fee is £8 \nIf you wish to enter\, please complete the purchase of an event ticket and provide all the requested information. \nThe NW/NE Regional event takes place on Saturday 9th July and you can find entry information here: \nhttps://swimnorthwest.org/event-course/senw-sene-open-water-championships-2022/ \nEntries close for regionals on Wednesday 8th June \n

SUMMARY:North East Open Water Swimming Coach Education Course
DESCRIPTION:This course covers the skills needed to effectively plan\, deliver\, and evaluate a series of open water training sessions. \nWho is the course designed for? \nAnyone who is a Swim England Coach\, Swimming Teacher or Triathlon Coach and who wants to become an independent open water coach. \nCourse content \nThe course is delivered through a mixture of online learning\, classroom activities\, and practical learning\, both poolside and in an open water environment. \nYou will learn about: \n\nPrinciples of swimming in open water\nSafe and effective planning and preparation for open water swimming\nInnovative delivery of open water swimming sessions\n\nPrerequisites \nYou must be at least 17 years of age at the start of the course. You must have one of the following qualifications: \n– Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate (or equivalent)\n– 1st 4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Triathlon (QCF)\n– SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming and have experience of swimming in an open water environment \nCourse Format \nDay 1 – 9th August – Zoom session 10am-2pm \nOnline workbook to be completed before lake session\, this will be marked and assessed by the tutor. \nDay 2 – 6th September – 9am-5.30pm\, Manvers Lake\, Wath-upon-Dearne\, Rotherham\, S63 7DG. The exact details of this day will be confirmed to candidates nearer to the time. \nAs part of this session you will continue on with the theoretical elements of this course along with a 2 hour practical lake session. Please Note: For this session you will need to enter the water (it is advisable to bring a wetsuit). \nCourse Cost \n£400/candidate. Funding is available from the North East Region to support club candidates.
