Brief biog:
I started swimming for a club when I was 7 with Dewsbury Dolphins ASC. I started assisting in coaching sessions when I was 11 at Dewsbury as it is a volunteer run club. I was swimming and coaching with Dewsbury right up until the first covid lockdown.
In March 2020 I did a time keeping young leaders course in Beverly. Since then I have moved on to working through my Judge level 1 and moved to City of Leeds SC as a volunteer coach and official.
Why did you want to join the Youth Forum?
I first heard about the Youth Forum in November from Jack while officiating down in Ponds Forge. The idea of the younger generation been given the opportunity to voice their opinions is great as it allows them to have more of a say in what’s going on for the sport they are active in. After hearing about the Youth Forum I want to encourage other swimmers and people of other aquatic sports to pursue further aspects in aquatic not just been in the water.
What do you hope to achieve as a Youth Forum?
As a Youth Forum, I hope that we can make a difference to the next generation in the pools. Hopefully by spreading more awareness of other aquatic roles and why they should get involved. Offering more young leader courses to try catch the interest of them. By doing things like this we hope to intrigue swimmers and people in other aquatic disciplines to pursue further.
