Masters swimming is essentially swimming for over 18s, and there are Masters swimming clubs all across England. It encompasses casual fitness swimming to highly-organised competitive swimming. How far you go is up to you, Masters swimming clubs are open to all with an emphasis on fun.
Find a Swim England Masters Swimming Club
When you join any of Swim England’s Masters swimming clubs, it will open you up to racing. This may be regionally, nationally or internationally. This blog post offers good reasons to get involved in competitions. If you do want to race competitively in England you’ll need to be a Swim England member. Three ways to find Masters swimming clubs
- Head to the Swim England website and search through their list of all Masters swimming clubs in England (scroll to the bottom of the page).
- Go to our Contacts page here and send an email to one of our regional Masters swimming contacts.
- Go to the Swim England Poolfinder and find the nearest Masters club to you by using your hometown or post code.
Swim England and British Swimming are two separate organisations and have different roles to play in swimming. British Swimming deals with any issues that relate to the whole of the United Kingdom i.e. England, Scotland and Wales. Swim England deals with issues that affect England. Therefore, there are two voluntary groups which influence decisions in Masters; one for Swim England and one for British Swimming.
Masters Working Group
This group reports directly to the Swimming Management Group which in turn reports to the Swim England Sports Governing Board. The group is comprised of three volunteers and liaises with the Masters Officer who can take issues to the Swimming Management Group.
