The Swim England North East Region adopt Wavepower as our safeguarding policies. Club Welfare Officers throughout the Region must be aware of Wavepower’s policies and stay up to date on new information to ensure that all clubs incorporate this into their club practices.
From 1st January 2024, the Swim England Safeguarding CPD will be the only acceptable training for those working or volunteering within clubs, counties and regions. All current approved training will be valid until it expires. Safeguarding forms an integral part of the Club Affiliation process and contributes towards a safe environment for members. Training is a mandatory requirement for coaches, teachers and all volunteer roles who require a DBS and must be renewed every 3 years. More information about this is available here.
The Region reiterates the importance that all parents/guardians/spectators should showcase positive parenting both at training sessions and competitions.
