As part of our regional strategy, Swim England North East is proud to promote the development of dual-aquatic athletes, supporting participation across multiple aquatic disciplines. In line with our themes of “Swimming as a Gateway” and the “Participant Journey”, we’re working with clubs and coaches to encourage flexible pathways that allow swimmers to explore water polo, artistic swimming, diving, and open water alongside competitive swimming.
By recognising the transferable skills across aquatic sports, we’re opening more doors for athletes to find their passion, stay engaged longer, and develop as well-rounded performers. Through club collaboration, shared opportunities, and a focus on long-term athlete development, we’re making the aquatic journey broader and more inclusive for all.
