At every Regional event hosted by Swim England North East Region, we depend on the knowledge and dedication of skilled volunteers who possess the expertise to efficiently oversee the competitions essential for our swimmers to reach their individual objectives. In Swim England North East Region, our commitment lies in offering comprehensive training programs to all swimming officials, ensuring they maintain updated skills necessary for impartial judgment during competitions and equitable treatment of our athletes.
Across England, Scotland, and Wales, concerted efforts have been made to establish uniform standards in the education and training of swimming officials. All three nations now adhere to World Aquatic Technical Rules, consequently designating trained officials as British Swimming Officials.

Professional Development for Regional Swimming Technical Officials
Swim England North East will promote and update training for Officials through our website and on social media. If you request more information on training, or general Technical Official enquiries, the Lead Contact is David Broome.
The list of courses below has been created to assist Technical Officials in locating courses to meet the criteria required in association with their development, as well as maintaining the currency of their license.

World Aquatic Officiating Videos
The “Officiating Swimming – Competitive Strokes” videos serve as World Aquatic-approved tools to enhance understanding of officiating in swimming. World Aquatic utilises these videos, courtesy of USA Swimming, to establish a consistent pattern of interpreting and applying swimming rules, thereby elevating the quality of officiating standards.

The Importance of Insurance
All clubs, promoters and competition organisers are reminded that, for insurance purposes, all those volunteering or officiating on poolside at any competition must be registered members of a British Swimming affiliated club or a member of the Institute of Swimming.
