Swim England North East Region Ltd.
is the governing body of aquatics in the North East of England. We are one of eight regions, affiliated directly to Swim England.
We are dedicated to developing the aquatic disciplines of swimming, diving, artistic swimming, water polo, para-swimming, masters swimming and open water.
Our management team is tasked with supporting our clubs and athletes, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in aquatics. The team is assisted by a vast network of volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure the effective delivery of all our competitions and programmes.
This website aims to provide the membership across the counties of Northumberland & Durham and Yorkshire with up to date and relevant information.

Our Regional Strategy 2024
Swim England North East launched their new Regional Strategy for the development of Aquatic activity within the region for the next 4 years.
Vision
In the North East Region, our vision is to inspire people of all ages and abilities to Get in the Water and Stay in the Water. Our aim is to welcome new participants into our world of aquatics (‘get in the water’) and, once there, our pledge is to inspire them to ‘stay in the water’ by creating an environment where people feel welcomed, safe and valued.
Mission
Our mission is for members to be able to make memories and friendships in aquatics that will last a lifetime, whether they participate, deliver teaching or coaching, or help out as a volunteer. We simply want them to join aquatics and never leave!
Emerging Themes
We have focused on 4 core themes in our new strategy;
- 1 – Workforce Development
- 2 – Education for all
- 3 – Participant journey
- 4 – Swimming as a gateway
