City of Sheffield Water Polo WIN Bronze at NAG Championships

The Swim England Water Polo National Age Group Championships 2023 were held at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre on the 29th-30th April. On the Saturday it was the group stages to see which teams would then take part in the medal winning matches on the Sunday.

The City of Sheffield Water Polo Club competed in the U17 category and was able to get a spot in the bronze-medal match.

City of Sheffield defeated City of Liverpool 12-11 in a hard-fought bronze medal contest.

Liverpool had a strong start. However, Alice Berrill’s four goals, two either side of halftime, helped the Sheffield team take a slim lead with only one quarter remaining.

And despite a late Liverpool comeback, Sheffield managed to hold onto their one-goal lead to win 12-11.

In addition to Berill’s four goals, Georgie Coles, Ruby Taylor, and Izzy Olcer each scored two goals, and Anna Woodhall and Severn Annakin also scored.

Huge congratulations to all players, coaches and team staff at the City of Sheffield Water Polo Club for this incredible achievement!
