Young volunteers from across the Swim England North East Region came together on Sunday 29th October in Darlington to an Aquatic Poolside Helpers workshop to give them the knowledge and skills to be able to volunteer on poolside, supporting the delivery of club sessions under the guidance and support of a qualified coach.

The young volunteers from various clubs represented all four aquatic disciplines and contributed very well to the discussions and exercises.

All will now be given access to additional online training resources to help them support them supporting coached activities in their chosen aquatic discipline. They will then be required to gain experiencing on poolside within their club environment.

Lizzie Ryan, a member of the Swim England North East Region Forum, attended the workshop to talk about her experiences of volunteering in a wide range of opportunities including events, officiating, coaching and the Youth Forum.

Additional Aquatic Poolside Helper workshops are being schedule for early in 2024. Details will be promoted when these are confirmed.
