Asthma Training Opportunity for Sports Clubs – Become a Beat Asthma Friendly Club

Swim England North East is pleased to share an important training and accreditation opportunity from the North East Child Health and Wellbeing Network (North East and North Cumbria), aimed at supporting children and young people with asthma in sport and physical activity settings.

Asthma affects 1 in 11 children and can have a significant impact on their ability to safely take part in sport. This regional initiative is designed to help sports clubs, including swimming clubs, ensure they are confident, prepared, and inclusive when supporting participants with asthma.

Clubs that complete the training and accreditation process will be recognised as Beat Asthma Friendly Clubs, demonstrating good practice in asthma awareness, prevention, and response during sessions.

We strongly encourage clubs to consider engaging with this opportunity to:

  • Improve safety and confidence when supporting swimmers with asthma
  • Create a more inclusive environment for children and young people
  • Gain formal recognition as a Beat Asthma Friendly Club

Please share this opportunity with club welfare officers, coaches, volunteers, and anyone involved in delivering sessions.
