North East Open Water Swimming Coach Education Course

This course covers the skills needed to effectively plan, deliver, and evaluate a series of open water training sessions.
Who is the course designed for?
Anyone who is a Swim England Coach, Swimming Teacher or Triathlon Coach and who wants to become an independent open water coach.
Course content
The course is delivered through a mixture of online learning, classroom activities, and practical learning, both poolside and in an open water environment.
You will learn about:
- Principles of swimming in open water
- Safe and effective planning and preparation for open water swimming
- Innovative delivery of open water swimming sessions
Prerequisites
You must be at least 17 years of age at the start of the course. You must have one of the following qualifications:
– Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate (or equivalent)
– 1st 4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Triathlon (QCF)
– SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming and have experience of swimming in an open water environment
Course Format
Day 1 – 9th August – Zoom session 10am-2pm
Online workbook to be completed before lake session, this will be marked and assessed by the tutor.
Day 2 – 6th September – 9am-5.30pm, Manvers Lake, Wath-upon-Dearne, Rotherham, S63 7DG. The exact details of this day will be confirmed to candidates nearer to the time.
As part of this session you will continue on with the theoretical elements of this course along with a 2 hour practical lake session. Please Note: For this session you will need to enter the water (it is advisable to bring a wetsuit).
Course Cost
