The Swim England North East Region Youth Forum met recently and discussed as range of different areas. A summary of their main points are as follows:
- The Youth Forum and Young Leader development opportunities are valued as a great way to learn and develop yourself in a range of different areas.
- The Youth Forum members should actively encourage other young adults in their club’s to take advantage of the opportunities available.
- The areas of support that they would like to continue to be provided are in officiating, event volunteering and getting involved in coaching.
- They value face to face learning and development opportunities most but understand that some training needs to be delivered and made available online and virtually.
- The next training opportunity (Introduction to Coaching) will be promoted after the exam season has finished (late July) for young leaders to sign up for. These will aim to be delivered in early autumn as clubs return to their full training programme.
- The Youth Forum should be promoted at the same time to try and recruit more members. The aim should be to have a Youth Forum Chairperson, Secretary and Social Media representative.
- The Youth Forum should ideally meet again in the early autumn, face to face if possible.
