North East Swimmers Shine at International Meet!
There were several of Britain’s up-and-coming swimmers that took part and gained valuable experience racing against some of the fastest juniors from around the world at the Ontario Junior International Meet. The squad were members of the British Swimming Team but were featured by their respective home nations.
There were a total of four swimmers that competed at the event from the North East, these include:
- Ashleigh Baillie – City of Sheffield
- Charlotte Bianchi – City of Sheffield
- Phoebe Cooper – City of Sheffield
- Libby Freeman – Morpeth ASC
All four girls had an impressive showing at the competition last weekend securing personal best times, season’s bests, qualifying for an international final, and even some international medals!
Ashleigh Baillie and Phoebe Cooper came away with a title to their name. Baillie secured GOLD in the 200m Butterfly, and Cooper got the 200m Individual Medley GOLD respectively.
