SENER Swimming Development Camp

Selected swimmers from across the Swim England North East Region attended the second face to face camp in Catterick on Sunday 12th June 2023.

The camp comprised of two pool sessions, a workshop plus a dry land strength and conditioning session. Previously, in addition to the first face to face camp, swimmers had attended online workshops focusing on nutrition, lifestyle and sports psychology.

The theme of the camp, which swimmers were encouraged to focus on, was being technically excellent and being a good learner.

The swimmer’s comments during the day when reflecting on what they learnt were as follows:

“I have increased my confidence in what I can do and now have more confidence in my ability”.

“I did cross over turns well but my backstroke could be better”.

“I have identified areas for improvement and to use my opposite arm in the cross over turn.”

“The camp provided a great opportunity to be able to practice the cross over turn”.

“I really enjoyed practising the turns. My breast to freestyle turn improved but I need to work on my underwater skills”.

“I enjoyed the videos of my technique which showed how I have improved from the last camp to this camp”.

“I really enjoyed the relays at the end but I could have done better with my breathing technique”.

“I learnt ways to prevent getting injured and how to improve my body strength to help my swimming. Mobility helps my core strength, balance and co-ordination”.

Thanks goes to the team of coaches who help to make the camps a success:
