This past weekend saw the Swim England North East water polo team (North East Steelers) give a spirited performance, finishing in a very respectable 3rd place in Division 2. The team’s determination and skill shone through as they secured wins against the East Midlands and Scotland, only narrowly losing to eventual winners, South East, by just 3 goals.

The weekend was packed with exciting displays of teamwork and some brilliant water polo, and the team saved their best for last, finishing with a victory in their final match. This win marked a special farewell to the 2007-born players, who have now played their last game as part of the North East Steelers. It was a fitting send-off for these talented players who have contributed so much to the team.

A special mention goes to Ruby, who was named the team’s MVP for her outstanding efforts throughout the weekend. Our young 2009-born goalkeeper, Rebekah, also impressed with a series of stellar performances between the posts, while captain, Isabel, along with vice-captains Severn and Ruby, led the team with great determination and spirit.

The weekend also saw some of the squad members score their very first Regional goals, which was a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work they have put in.

Fun was had by all, and the Region is incredibly proud of everything this team has achieved on their North East journey. Well done, girls, for representing us with such passion, skill, and heart!
