Brief Blog: I have been swimming at City of Leeds Swimming Club for around 6 years and I have attended county and regional championships for the past 3 years. I attended my first national competition this year and competed in 400m IM at the English National Summer Meet. I came 26th in the 14/15 age category. My favourite stroke is backstroke and my least favourite is breaststroke. For my GCSE’s, I chose sport science and business. I chose these because I would like to run my own swimming club when I’m older. This year, I completed my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, where I learnt leadership, teamwork, and perseverance. In order to complete this, I assisted delivering swim sessions to younger swimmers for around 3-6 months. I enjoyed this so much and therefore I am continuing to volunteer in the following season.
Why Did You Want To Join the Youth Forum: I wanted to join the youth forum because I wanted the opportunity to feedback and share my ideas. I wanted to improve my confidence and I desire to give back to the sport I’ve loved for many years. I thought I would be suited to be a youth forum member because I am outspoken, committed, experienced in swimming and I believe I will be a good representative.
What Do You Hope to Achieve as a Youth Forum: I hope to make a difference by spreading awareness of how beneficial the sport is and how it contributes to a stronger mindset. I also hope my knowledge can help other swimmers.
