Ben Alderson Helps Great Britain Secure Bronze at EU Nations Tournament

Ben Alderson of Sedgefield Water Polo Club played a key role as part of the Great Britain Men’s team that secured a bronze medal at the EU Nations tournament in Brno, Czechia.

The tournament took place from 12–14 December and brought together 10 international teams in a highly competitive environment. Representing Great Britain on the international stage, Ben and his teammates faced a demanding group-stage schedule against Lithuania, the USA, Wales and host nation Czechia across two days of intense competition.

The group-stage matches tested the resilience, tactical discipline and teamwork of the squad, with every game played at a high tempo. Ben’s selection for the tournament reflects his continued development and performance at club level with Sedgefield Water Polo Club, earning him the opportunity to compete against some of the strongest international opposition.

Following the group stages, Great Britain progressed into the medal matches. In the bronze medal playoff, the team delivered a composed and determined performance, defeating Sweden to secure third place overall.

The bronze medal finish is a significant achievement for the squad and highlights the commitment of the players and coaching staff throughout the tournament.
