509 Swim Clinics Presents an Exclusive Day with Olympic Champion Matt Richards and International Swimmer Emily Large
Swimmers in the North East Region are in for a treat this Autumn as the 509 Swim Clinic is coming to town on Saturday 28th September, offering a unique opportunity to swim with Olympic gold medalist Matt Richards and local swimming sensation Emily Large.
The event, will feature two swim sessions, a land training session, and Q&A opportunities designed to inspire and elevate young athletes from ages 8-16.
A Star-Studded Lineup
Leading the day is Ryan Livingstone, an Olympic coach from Paris 2024, who will ensure that the clinic is packed with top-tier coaching and training methods. Richards and Large will be right in the water during both swim sessions, sharing their expertise and swimming alongside participants.
Matt Richards, who shot to fame with his gold medal victory in the 4x200m Freestyle Relay and an Silver medal in the 200m Freestyle at Paris 2024, is particularly excited about the event.
I’m really excited to be coming to the North East with 509 Swim Clinics this Autumn! It’s going to be a brilliant day and I’m looking forward to meeting all of the swimmers and families to help them on their journeys. Who knows, we may find a future Olympic teammate!

Emily Large, a North East native and international butterfly specialist, will be offering her insights, especially valuable for swimmers aiming to excel at the highest levels of competition.


What to Expect
The clinic will offer swimmers a well-rounded experience, including:
- Welcome Talk: An introductory session to set the tone for the day.
- 2x Swim Sessions: Direct coaching from Richards and Large, who will be in the pool with participants to offer hands-on guidance and feedback.
- Land Training Session: Designed to complement the swim work, focusing on strength, mobility, and conditioning for optimal performance in the pool.
- Q&A for Swimmers and Parents: Separate Q&A sessions to address any burning questions from swimmers on technique, training, and competition, as well as from parents on how to support their children’s development in the sport.
- Autograph and Photo Opportunity: A special chance for attendees to meet Matt Richards and Emily Large up close, with Matt showing off his international medal collection. This is a perfect moment for photos and autographs, making the day even more memorable.
