Richmond Dales swimming club proudly hosted a highly successful “In Her Element” Training Camp on Saturday 21st March 2026 at Catterick Leisure Centre, bringing together female swimmers from across the region for a day of learning, development, and empowerment.
The camp welcomed participants not only from Richmond Dales ASC, but also from Teesdale Tiger Sharks, Harrogate Swimming Club, and Thirsk Swimming Club. The collaborative atmosphere created an inspiring environment, with athletes sharing experiences, building connections, and supporting one another throughout the day.
A key highlight of the camp was a special guest appearance from Olympic and Commonwealth swimmer Hannah Miley MBE. She delivered an engaging and informative presentation exploring the impact of the menstrual cycle on female athletes. Her session emphasised the importance of understanding the body’s natural phases and fuelling appropriately to optimise both performance and wellbeing. The interactive nature of the discussion encouraged thoughtful questions and provided valuable insights for swimmers and coaches alike.
The programme also included a well-rounded series of practical sessions. Athletes took part in a high-quality Pilates session designed to improve strength, mobility, and body awareness, followed by a focused pool session that translated these principles into the water. The day concluded with a nutrition workshop, reinforcing key messages from earlier sessions and equipping swimmers with practical strategies to support their training and recovery.
The camp was led by Coach Kylah, supported by coaches Suzanne, Zoe, and Lizzie, alongside Team Manager Debbie. Their collective effort ensured the day ran smoothly and delivered a meaningful and impactful experience for all involved.
Hannah also took time out to present a trophy to Sky F for achieving the most female Para points at the Club Championships.
Richmond Dales ASC would also like to extend sincere thanks to Richmond’s Duck Club, Lennox Lodge and The Fellmongers Company of Richmond for their generous support in making the event possible. Appreciation is also given to Catterick Leisure Centre for providing an excellent venue and accommodating the needs of the camp.
The “In Her Element” Training Camp represents an important step in supporting female athletes through education, collaboration, and confidence-building—both in and out of the pool. Richmond Dales swimming club looks forward to building on the success of this event in the future.
