Job Summary
North Yorkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Para‑Swim Coach to join the aquatics team at Harrogate Leisure & Wellbeing Hub. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support the development of para-swimmers through inclusive, engaging, and high-quality coaching.
Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver safe, effective, and inclusive swimming coaching sessions tailored to para-athletes.
- Plan and evaluate sessions to support swimmer development and progression.
- Promote a positive and encouraging environment, ensuring high standards of swimmer welfare and safety.
- Collaborate with the wider leisure and swim teams to ensure the programme meets community needs.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Experience working with swimmers with disabilities or para-athletes (e.g., through school programmes, clubs, or disability sport settings).
- A good knowledge of swimming techniques and athlete development.
- Appropriate ASA/Swim England coaching qualifications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with swimmers, parents, and colleagues.
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting equal opportunities in sport.
