Job Advert: Rotherham Metro Assistant Swimming Coach

Rotherham Metro Swimming Club is inviting applications for an Assistant Swimming Coach to join its programme based at Aston Leisure Centre, Rotherham.

This role is ideally suited to a coach with experience working with younger swimmers who is passionate about introducing athletes to competitive swimming and supporting their early development within the performance pathway.

Role Overview

Working closely with the club’s coaching team, the Assistant Coach will deliver engaging, technically focused sessions aimed at developing swimmers from introductory and development squads through to their first competitive experiences. The role plays a key part in preparing swimmers for racing, building strong technical foundations, and fostering positive training behaviours.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering high-quality coaching sessions with technical feedback across all four strokes
  • Supporting race preparation, including warm-ups, meet attendance, and competition-side coaching
  • Monitoring swimmer progression and supporting long-term development
  • Promoting high standards of discipline, attendance, and commitment
  • Ensuring full compliance with Swim England safeguarding and health & safety requirements

Role Details:

  • Location: Aston Leisure Centre, Rotherham
  • Hours:
    • Tuesday: 7:00–9:00pm
    • Thursday: 7:00–9:00pm
    • Saturday: 7:20–9:20am
    • Sunday: 9:00–10:00am
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Rate of Pay: £14.00 per hour

Essential Requirements:

  • Swim England (ASA) Level 1 Coaching qualification (Level 2 preferred or working towards)
  • Experience working with young swimmers
  • Enhanced DBS and safeguarding certification
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • A positive, enthusiastic approach to coaching and athlete development
