On Saturday 31st May, 47 boys from across the North East region gathered at Maltby, South Yorkshire, for a highly anticipated North East Academy training session.
The event brought together a diverse group of athletes aged 12 to 17, representing a wide range of clubs including Sedgefield, Rotherham, Sheffield, Morley, Huddersfield, and Leeds. The session provided an excellent opportunity for these young players to develop their skills, connect with peers, and showcase their potential in a high-energy, collaborative environment.
In addition to pool-based training, those selected for the U16 Inter-Regional team took part in a dedicated classroom session to further enhance their game understanding and team strategy. The U16 squad later took to the water for a scrimmage against the U18 boys, offering valuable match-play experience and preparation ahead of their upcoming competition.
A huge thank you goes out to all the coaches who generously gave up their time, especially on such a hot Saturday afternoon, to support the next generation of water polo talent in the region.
