North East Region Divers Enjoy European Success in Paris

Divers from the Sheffield Performance Centre enjoyed an exceptional European Aquatics Championships in Paris, securing seven medals, including three gold, two silver and two bronze, alongside three additional top-four finishes. Their performances once again demonstrated the quality and depth of diving talent within the region and highlighted the continued success of the athlete development pathway in producing divers capable of competing with Europe’s very best.

The medal success began in the Men’s 1m Springboard, where Jack Laugher claimed silver and Jordan Houlden took bronze, giving Great Britain two places on the podium and providing an excellent start to the championships for North East Region athletes.

Attention then turned to the Women’s 10m Synchro, where Lois Toulson and Maisie Bond delivered a superb performance to secure European gold for Great Britain. The pair produced an impressive display to top the standings and claim the continental title.

Bond’s outstanding week continued in the Women’s 10m Platform, where she added a second gold medal to her tally, becoming a double European champion after another dominant performance.

In the Men’s 3m Synchro, Leeds developed pair Jack Laugher and Anthony Harding came agonisingly close to another medal, finishing fourth after a highly competitive contest. The pair remained in podium contention throughout the event and narrowly missed out on a medal.

The region added another podium finish in the Women’s 3m Springboard, where Yasmin Harper secured silver following another strong international performance.

The championships concluded with further success in the Men’s 3m Springboard. Jordan Houlden claimed his second medal of the competition with bronze, while Ross Haslam finished an impressive fourth, narrowly missing out on joining his teammate on the podium.
