Northumberland and Durham Swimming Association: Chairperson Opportunity

The Northumberland and Durham Swimming Association (NDSA), part of Swim England North East Region, plays a key role in supporting affiliated clubs and delivering structured governance for aquatics within the region. As well as running the annual County Swimming Championships, the NDSA supports talent development through training and coach networking.

NDSA is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and reliable individual to take on the role of County Chairperson. Working alongside the County Board and Swim England’s Development Team, the Chair will provide leadership to support the county’s progress over the next five years.

They’re looking for a candidate who:

  • Has a strong understanding of aquatics and club governance
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership, diplomacy, and communication
  • Is committed to collaboration and maintaining unity across the county
  • Ideally, is independent of existing governance roles in affiliated clubs
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the County Board and its officers
  • Chair meetings and guide strategic decision-making
  • Ensure good governance aligned with Swim England and UK law
  • Represent the county at regional and national forums as required
Commitment
  • Attend 6+ meetings annually (in-person/online)
  • Engage with governance and strategic planning
  • Attend occasional forums or events
  • Term: Minimum of 2 years (voluntary with expense reimbursement)

This is a rewarding leadership role at the heart of aquatics in the North East. You’ll have the opportunity to influence the direction of swimming in the county and help shape the future of the sport.

If anyone has any questions or would like more info on the role, they will need to contact Tracy Donnelly on ndsasecretary@gmail.com.
