Peterlee ASC took the opportunity for a Parent’s Workshop to be delivered face to face with the parents from their club.
Those who participated said the workshop delivered the following outcomes:
- Helped me better understand the expectations of my child in the sport
- Provided me with some useful options for me to consider to use which will help my child’s development
- Feel better positioned to help you child develop a lifelong enjoyment of aquatic sport
The club representatives said “What a great workshop delivered tonight! It gave us a great insight into how to support our children through their swimming journey. The ethos was routed in the enjoyment of swimming, the friendships our children form and the confidence & resilience they will build by being part of aquatic sport. Ultimately we all want our children to develop into happy, healthy adults; and swimming is a great pathway to facilitate just that! Thank you”
Individual parent feedback was as follows:
- Very well delivered and good interaction with us parents
- lots of information covered in an hour which was aimed at our level and not high performance
- Really informative, covering a lot of different topics.
- Very clear and informative
- Was brilliant and helpful
- Already looking forward to nutrition workshop next month
Things they said that they would put into practice are:
- Making sure I have the right conversation at the right times
- Not asking too many questions about results of galas. Don’t pressure them.
- To look at putting in some long term goals moving forward.
- Make swimmer more independent – pack their own bag!
- That enjoyment is at the heart of the sport
- How to help manage their expectations
