The Swim England North East Regional Diving Championships saw 93 divers from across the region compete in an exhilarating two-day event at the John Charles Centre for Sport. Held on the 18th and 26th January, the competition featured events across three boards; 1m and 3m springboard, and platform.

Divers represented clubs from Bradford, Darlington, Leeds, and Sheffield, delivering outstanding performances throughout the championships.

One of the highlights of the event was the return of Olympic bronze medallist Anthony Harding to the John Charles Centre for Sport. Harding demonstrated his world-class ability, securing gold in the Senior Male 1m event.

Sheffield’s Willow Kesteven McGrath and Leeds’ Lucas Bishop emerged as the most successful divers of the championships, both achieving a remarkable hat-trick by taking gold in all three of their respective events (C Elite Female and C Elite Open).

A remarkable performance was also delivered by Leeds diver Toby Dorey, who became the youngest gold medalist of the competition at just eight years old, triumphing in the D Age Group Open 1m event.

The highest-scoring dive of the entire competition came from Lewis Neilson (Sheffield) in the A Elite Open Platform event, where he delivered an exceptional performance to secure the gold medal.

Following these impressive performances, many divers from the region have now qualified for the National Championships. Junior Elite divers will compete in April, while National Age Group divers will take to the boards in June.
