Teenage ice swimmer Frankie Jackson has continued her remarkable rise on the international stage after completing an extraordinary 1km polar swim in the Arctic waters of Svalbard, Norway.
The 15-year-old, who represents South Tyneside Swimming Club, took on one of the toughest challenges of her young career by swimming in water temperatures recorded at an astonishing -0.63°C near the Bore Glacier in the Arctic Circle.
Frankie travelled to Svalbard alongside fellow ice swimmers before completing the swim wearing only a standard swimsuit, cap and goggles, showcasing incredible resilience and determination in extreme conditions. The achievement has since been widely recognised across the international ice swimming community.
Already regarded as one of Great Britain’s emerging talents in ice swimming, Frankie has represented Team GB through the International Ice Swimming Association and previously competed at both the GB Championships in Scotland and the European Championships in Molveno, Italy earlier this year for the second time.
The latest achievement adds to a growing list of milestones for the North East swimmer, who continues to inspire young athletes across the region through her dedication and fearless approach to competition.
Earlier in 2025 Frankie was recognised across the North East after being selected to represent Great Britain at the Ice Swimming World Championships.
