Wear Valley ASC Coach Vacancies

Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club is seeking a Level 2 Swim Coach and a Performance Development Coach to provide session cover within the club on a part-time, as-and-when-needed basis.

The club operates from Woodhouse Close Leisure Centre, Bishop Auckland, and offers a clear swimmer pathway from Talent ID and Swim England Learn to Swim Level 7 through to County, Regional and National level squads. This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive club with a strong coaching and volunteer team.

Performance Development Coach

The Role

The Performance Development Coach will play a key role in preparing swimmers for competition and supporting their long-term progression in line with LTAD principles. The successful applicant will be expected to attend galas and work collaboratively with the wider coaching team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with planning the competition calendar and supporting swimmer attendance
  • Planning and delivering tailored training programmes across squads, in consultation with the coaching team
  • Attending regular coaching meetings to review swimmer progress
  • Providing updates to monthly Committee meetings where required
  • Following Swim England Wavepower safeguarding policies
  • Complying with all club policies
  • Attending relevant training courses and meetings
  • Maintaining positive relationships with swimmers, parents, coaches and volunteers
Requirements

Essential qualifications and requirements:

  • Swim England Swimming Coach qualification (old Level 2)
  • NPLQ
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Safeguarding Level 1

The club is looking for a motivated coach with strong communication skills and a commitment to developing swimmers within a structured performance pathway.

Hours and Remuneration
  • Part-time position
  • Self-employed
  • Remuneration negotiable, dependent on experience

Swimming Coach

The Role

The successful applicant will work alongside the Head Coach to deliver high-quality swimming sessions and support swimmers across a range of development stages.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery of swimming sessions when required
  • Providing motivation and technical support to swimmers at varying levels
  • Maintaining positive relationships with swimmers, parents, coaches and volunteers
  • Following Swim England Wavepower safeguarding policies and all club procedures
  • Providing cover for other coaches when needed
  • Attending relevant training courses and meetings
Requirements

Essential qualifications and requirements:

  • Swim England Assistant Swimming Coach qualification (old Level 1)
  • NRASTC or NPLQ
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Safeguarding Level 1

The club is looking for a coach who is a confident communicator and enthusiastic about supporting swimmer development across the whole club pathway.
