YSA Swimming Development Camp

A Yorkshire Swimming Development Camp for swimmers aged 12/13 years took place at York Sports Village on Sunday 19th January.

The camp forms part of a programme which includes face to face camps and online education workshops covering nutrition, lifestyle, sports psychology and growth and development.

The face to face camps included two pool sessions, strength and conditioning and group discussions.

The swimmers who attended the camp commented that they enjoyed learning strength and conditioning exercises which will help their streamline position together with doing the pre-pool work.

They also enjoyed how to build into a faster turn, my body position, thinking the ‘Walls are like Lava” and coming from a turn into a sprint.

The selection policy for the swimmers is available to view at: County Development Swimming Selection Criteria Guidelines 2024 – 2025

The programme is being led by Head Coach Tom Rhodes and supported by Skills coaches Michael Bonson, Harvey Williamson, Lauren Burkinshaw, Tim Redfearn, Martin Wilson and Oli Nevitt; Team Managers Jeremy Stacey and Mel Robinson and S&C Coach Emily Dingley.

The Swimmers said they have learnt the following so far from the programme

The second face to face takes place later in the season. Between now and then the swimmers are encouraged to put what they have learnt into practice back in their club environment.
