Young Leaders from across the Swim England North East Region have demonstrated great leadership during lockdown while completing the requirements of the Leadership Module training that they attended as part of the Young Volunteer Training opportunities that were delivered in February. Having attended their online virtual classroom training, the young leaders were required to demonstrate what they had learnt back in their club environment with the support of a mentor.
Seven young leaders have now fulfilled the requirements of the training by completing the following various tasks:
- Interviewing lead volunteers in their club
- Demonstrating dryland exercises and taking workout timings
- Presenting to others young leaders about the North East Region Youth Forum
- Putting together a questionnaire for club volunteers to complete
All have demonstrated the following outcomes:
- What’s required of being a positive role model
- Understanding a club committee structure
- Understanding the role and expectations of different club volunteer positions
- What it takes to be a leader
The young volunteers came from Scarborough SC, Harrogate & District SC, City of Leeds SC, Bridlington SC, Dewsbury SC, Whitby SC and Middlesbrough SC.
Their mentors have provided the following feedback:
“They have shown a fantastic work ethic and are a great role model within the club.’
” They demonstrated their leadership task in a succinct manner, their instructions and demonstrations were outstanding.”
” They are proving to be an outstanding role model and young leader who can go on to develop themselves to be a great asset to the club.”
All the young volunteers have until the summer to complete the requirements of both the Leadership and Coaching training modules that they participated in by giving some volunteering hours back in their own club environments.
Well done to all the young volunteers, their mentors and their clubs.
