What a fantastic day at the recent Mini & Junior Water Polo World Cup, hosted by Rotherham Metro! 🌍🤽♀️🤽♂️
More than 75 young players from clubs across the region came together for a brilliant day of water polo, with some fantastic play, plenty of prizes, great music and, of course, the traditional dunking of the coaches to finish! 💦
We were also delighted to welcome Fran Leighton, captain of the Great Britain women’s water polo team at the London 2012 Olympic Games, who made a special appearance to present medals to every young player. It was a memorable moment and a wonderful opportunity for the juniors to meet someone who has represented the sport at the very highest level. 🏅
Events like this show the real value of regional collaboration. By working together, clubs are helping to raise the standard of junior water polo, create more opportunities for young players and increase participation across the region.
It was wonderful to see so many juniors enjoying the sport, competing with enthusiasm and creating memories that will last long after the final whistle.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers, participating clubs, team managers, coaches and organisers who helped make the day such a success.
