Five British Swimming Technical Officials were appointed by World Para Swimming to be at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, with 2 of those Sue Prasad (Technical Delegate, pictured centre in the image below) and Christine Golightly (Referee, pictured far left in the image below) coming from the North East Region.

They officiated on 146 Medal events over a 10 day period, where 69 World Records were broken and numerous Paralympic and Regional Records set. This has been a unique opportunity working at a ‘Games like no other’ being the first ever to be postponed and run in a city that is in a State of Emergency. Sadly there were no spectators at the Games, however the flip side was that increased media attention brought many of the stories about athletes and their triumph over challenge to the headlines.
