Three swimmers from The Borough of Barnsley Swimming Club (BOBSC) were part of the volunteering team who witnessed some record breaking swims as well as meeting Para Swimming Olympic Gold and Strictly star Ellie Simmonds. The BOBSC Young Leaders consisted of Chloe Etheridge, Alyssa Warren and Lola Wooler.
Chloe said “It was an amazing opportunity to volunteer on the Events team. It was an inspiration to support behind the scenes of such a prestigious international event.”
Alyssa Said “It was amazing to be part of this event, watching how the different swimmers adapted in different ways to achieve fantastic swims. It was very inspiring and shows that anyone can gain achievements despite disabilities “
Lola Said “As a competitive swimmer I understand the hard work that goes on with training and the commitment of all coaches and helpers, and parents. I wanted to give something in return and thought this was an excellent opportunity to do so. I was inspired, humbled and amazed by the talent I saw and this has encouraged me to keep training, and have faith in myself”.
Adrian Wightman form their club added said “Once again our swimmers have excelled outside of the pool. It’s no easy task volunteering and taking part in an event like this and everyone within BOBSC is very proud that Chloe, Alyssa and Lola took part and represented BOBSC on the international stage. They are a tremendous credit to the club, their sport and their town”
