In two weeks time clubs from across the country will be arriving at the John Charles Aquatics Centre to begin training for the weekends Swim England National Skills Finals hosted by the North East Region.

The Swim England Diving National Skills Finals is held for divers who have achieved the qualification standard at a regional qualifying event.

For divers aged 8-9 years, 10-11 years and 12-13 years the event features poolside, 1m and 3m skills competed in a 12-dive circuit. For divers aged 14- 16 years the event features 1m and 3m skills competed in a 10-dive circuit.

North East Region Diving Manager, Helen Dutton, commented “It is fantastic to see so many divers having achieved the qualifying standard this tear, a clear sign that standards are heading back in the right direction post Covid”

This year the Girls Group B+ category is larger than ever, this is a great sign for next year as 2024 sees the Skills diving categories aligned to that of National Age Groups meaning there will be a Group A category allowing divers aged 16-18 to continue within the sport at this level.
