Within our Region, we engage with volunteers to guide and shape our aquatic sports.
The Discipline Leadership Groups are an essential part of the governance structure of the Swim England NE Region providing knowledge and technical input into the development and management of the sport. Each group consists of appointed volunteers and Swim England NE staff members who work together to meet the needs of the community.

About our existing groups
We currently have a number of leadership groups operating across the four main disciplines – artistic, diving, swimming and water polo, in addition to a Club Leadership Group and Officials Leadership Group (swimming). The “Terms of Reference” for each group can be found at the bottom of this page.
Each group meets regularly online to plan and manage how we deliver the relevant workforce development, competitions, pathway and strategy activities to serve our membership. Our plan for 2025 and beyond, is to have one of the Regional Aquatics Managers facilitating each discipline as follows:
Sarah Small – artistic swimming
David Parry – water polo
Chris Leighton – diving
Louise Graham – swimming (inc. masters, para and open water)
What we are looking for
Are you enthusiastic about developing the aquatic sports? We are looking to add variety and depth to our existing groups to diversify the expertise in our leadership groups.
Have you got hands on experience of sport development or extensive experience within a specific discipline?
Do you enjoy working with others to cultivate and drive change?
If you feel you have the knowledge, experience or skills needed to add value to one of the groups listed below, please send a short paragraph (100-200 words as a guide) to louise.graham@swimnortheast.org to register your interest and give a flavour of what you feel you would bring. Please state which group you would like to join from the following list:
Artistic Swimming Leadership Group
Diving Leadership Group
Swimming Leadership Group
Water Polo Leadership Group
Swimming Officials Leadership Group
We will be taking expressions of interest until the end of November 2024, and will then arrange a short call to discuss further during December.
