Swim England North East is delighted to share an exciting opportunity for sports clubs and activity providers across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear to enhance their safeguarding and welfare practices.
The Rise Sport Welfare Support group, hosted on Facebook, is a dedicated online space where organisations, sports clubs, activity providers, volunteers, parents/carers, and members can come together to share best practices, access updates, and learn about training and development opportunities in safeguarding and welfare.

Free Monthly Sport Welfare Forums
Rise North East has lined up a series of FREE monthly virtual Sport Welfare Forums starting in January. These forums will feature industry experts who will raise awareness and provide practical tips on various topics, such as:
- Neurodiversity awareness and inclusion
- Mental health awareness in sport
- LGBTQ+ and transgender inclusion
The first session kicks off on 14th January, with a presentation by Joe Hogan, Newcastle’s Prevent Co-ordinator. Joe will deliver valuable insights on preventing radicalisation and terrorism within sports clubs, using local examples to make the key messages relevant and practical. This is an invaluable session for anyone involved in safeguarding or welfare roles in sport.
