The Swim England North East Girls Water Polo squad came together on Friday 5th September for another fantastic regional training session – and what a night it was!

A total of 34 players threw themselves into a high-energy “boot camp” style session, working incredibly hard on swimming, jumping, passing and catching – all while wearing t-shirts to add an extra challenge. The evening was rounded off with some sharp shooting practice, bringing the training to an exciting finish.

The atmosphere poolside was brilliant, with plenty of smiles, laughter and determination on display throughout the evening. A special highlight came when the girls were surprised with medals, provided by the North East Region, to recognise their achievements at the recent Inter-Regionals. Division 2 teams had not originally been awarded medals, but the Region stepped in to make sure every player’s efforts were celebrated.

The reaction was priceless – the cheers and smiles on the players’ faces showed just how much it meant. The medal ceremony sparked a new sense of spirit and pride among the girls, helping them bond as a team and look forward with excitement.

The session was made even more special thanks to the presence and handing out the medals of GB senior international player, Amelia Peters. Amelia, who has represented both Sheffield and Rotherham, played professionally in Italy last season and is now set to spend a year competing in Greece. She led the group through a stretching and warm-up session, giving the girls a chance to learn from her experience at the very highest level of the sport.

Overall, it was a night to remember for everyone involved – full of energy, inspiration and celebration.
