Wrapping Up 2025 โ Thank You and Best Wishes from SENER
As we come to the end of 2025, we want to take a moment to wish all our members, clubs, volunteers, athletes, coaches and partners the very best – and to say a heartfelt thank you for being part of what has been a fantastic year for aquatics in the North East.
Over the course of 2025, weโve shared over 140 positive news stories celebrating the impact, opportunities and successes across our regional aquatics community. Together, these stories tell a powerful story of progress and show how, collectively, we are delivering against our strategy and its four core themes.
What we achieved together in 2025
Training and supporting our valued workforce
Around a third of our communications this year focused on workforce development – from coaches, officials and volunteers to welfare and safeguarding roles. We promoted CPD, recruitment and learning opportunities throughout the year, while also celebrating the people who give their time, expertise and leadership to our sport.
All SENER staff were actively involved in delivering events in 2025 – something that will continue going forward – and we thoroughly enjoyed standing alongside our incredible army of volunteers to help make the magic happen โจ
Engaging and educating all of our members
Approximately a quarter of our stories centred on club and member engagement. Through forums, guidance, pathway information and wellbeing-focused communications, we have worked hard to be a trusted source of support for athletes, parents, coaches and committees.
As we move into the New Year, we will continue to strengthen relationships with our clubs, listening carefully to feedback and working together to co-create a caring and supportive offer for all our aquatics communities ๐ค
Making lasting memories and improving participant journeys
A significant proportion of our content celebrated competitions, camps, championships, awards and personal journeys. These stories went beyond results, capturing moments of pride, belonging and shared experience that help build a strong regional identity and a love for aquatics.
As Winnie the Pooh so perfectly put it:
โWe didnโt realise we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun.โ ๐
Fulfilment for all through aquatics โ using swimming as a gateway
Throughout the year, we consistently highlighted inclusive and accessible opportunities across all aquatic disciplines – from para activity to masters, and from grassroots participation through to performance pathways.
Our work across disciplines has opened up more opportunities for swimmers to use their skills in different aquatic environments, reinforcing a simple message: there is a place for everyone in aquatics in the North East. We will continue to promote being in and around water, enjoying it and having as much fun as possible ๐ฆ
Looking ahead to 2026
Taken together, this year shows a Region that is:
- Investing in people
- Supporting and empowering clubs
- Creating meaningful, memorable experiences
- Championing inclusion and lifelong involvement
As we look ahead to the coming year, we have a strong platform to build on. By continuing to work collaboratively with our two counties, sharing our successes and staying focused on our strategic priorities, we are excited about what more we can achieve together.
Today marks the official closure of the Regional office as the team takes some well-earned time to rest, reset and spend time with loved ones – before we go again in 2026, bigger and better than ever.
Thank you once again for your commitment, energy and passion throughout the year. We wish you all a happy, healthy and enjoyable end to 2025 – and we look forward to seeing you poolside again very soon.
With thanks and best wishes,
The SENER Team
