Are you passionate about aquatics and interested in helping shape the future of our sport?
The Members Forum plays an important role in Swim England’s governance, bringing together representatives from across the aquatics community to ensure members’ views and experiences help inform national decision-making. Representatives provide an important link between members and Swim England, helping to ensure a broad range of voices are heard when key decisions affecting the sport are considered.
Swim England North East are keen to hear from people from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and disciplines across aquatics. Whether your involvement is in swimming, diving, artistic swimming, water polo, open water, coaching, officiating, volunteering or club leadership, we would welcome your interest.
We are particularly keen to encourage applications from people who may be under-represented in governance roles, helping to broaden the diversity of voices and perspectives involved in decision-making.
What is involved?
The role is designed to be manageable alongside work, study and other commitments.
Members Forum representatives are normally asked to:
- Attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is typically held in the evening and takes place once a year.
- Vote on key member matters, including the election of Member Nominated Directors.
- Represent the views and perspectives of members within the region.
- Participate in any additional General Meetings that may be called. These are rare and typically occur only when an important decision requires member approval.
In most years, commitment is limited to the AGM and Member Nominated Director election process.
We’re looking for people who:
- Are passionate about aquatics and the future of the sport.
- Want to represent and champion members’ views.
- Are willing to listen to and understand different perspectives.
- Can contribute positively to discussion and constructive challenge.
- Have an interest in good governance and effective decision-making.
- Can act in the best interests of the wider sport.
If this is a role which appeals to you, please contact swimnortheast@swimming.org – deadline 30th September 2026.
