After 15 years of dedicated service to Aquatics GB, Dawn Peart, a long-standing figure in British aquatics and a cornerstone of Swim England North East, is stepping away from her role. Dawn’s influence has spanned five Olympic cycles and countless international competitions, making her an indispensable part of British swimming’s success story.
A Regional, National & International Leader
Competing to national standard in her youth, Dawn was a swimming coach for almost 30 years working for Newcastle City Council and City of Newcastle Swimming Club where she produced a steady stream of highly successful swimmers. Since her first Olympics in Beijing in 2008, she’s been full-time manager for the British Swimming squad. Dawn’s contributions also extend beyond her role as Head of Performance Team Development and Planning. She has been a vital presence in the Swim England North East Region, serving as a member of the Northumberland and Durham Swimming Association (NDSA) Board, a swim coaching tutor and respected mentor. Her dual commitment to regional and national development has made her a revered figure in the swimming community.
Driving Success on the International Stage
In her national role, Dawn’s logistical and leadership expertise has been instrumental in the success of Aquatics GB athletes and teams. Her senior Team Manager responsibilities encompassed five Olympic Games, alongside numerous World and European Championships. She also held the prestigious position of Swimming Team Leader for England during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
A Mentor and Advocate for Women in Sport
Beyond her work with athletes, Dawn has been a mentor and educator, nurturing the next generation of Team Managers through Team Manager Performance Learning Experience workshops. Her dedication to empowering women reached new heights in 2023 when she participated as a mentor in the SIGA Women Global Mentorship Programme. Through this initiative, Dawn supported women in business and high-performance sport, championing female leadership across industries.
